保釣須有理有節 搗亂則親痛仇快

香港保釣人士登上釣魚島後被日本遣返，加上日本右翼分子和政客登釣魚島，觸發昨日內地多個省市出現反日示威，美中不足的是深圳示威過程中，有人推翻多輛日本汽車，這些搗亂不但違法，而且殃及無辜同胞的財物；如果示威者被冠上暴徒之名，更可能令這次發自民間的保釣行動被扭曲，搗亂者的做法損人害己，只會令親者痛仇者快。

 

日本挑起的購買釣魚島風波，觸發新一輪的保釣活動，內地及香港都出現示威，如果以和平方式舉行，並且針對使領館等官方代表機構，一來可以向日本政府反映中國人槍口一致對外的立場，對日本侵佔釣魚島表達憤慨之情，更可向中國官方施壓，迫使政府以較強硬的立場保衛國土。可惜，破壞日本汽車的行為是不分是非、不辨敵我的肆意破壞行動，既無損侵佔釣魚島的日本政府分毫，反而令自己同胞的財物遭到破壞，中國人保釣形象更蒙污。

這種不法行為令愛國者痛心，一心侵佔釣魚島的日本人則會偷笑。中國人保釣是理據充足的，絕不是漫無目的地撒野，但部分示威者恍如暴徒，既損保釣形象，也不利保家衛國。

今次保釣人士登陸釣魚島是精心策劃、目標清晰的行動，目的是宣示主權，抗議的對象也十分清晰，就是針對日本政府和民間侵佔釣島的行為。保釣必須有理有節，明辨是非，不應該針對一般日本人，不應該闖進內地或香港的日本人社區，昨日深圳的一幕，令保釣運動蒙上污點，四處搗亂的示威者，又怎對得起冒着風浪冒着生命危險登上釣魚島的保釣勇士？

The Diaoyu Movement Calls for Reason and Self-Control

 

With Japan sending back to Hong Kong the activists who landed on the Diaoyu Islands and Japanese right-wingers and politicians landing soon afterwards on the same islands, anti-Japanese demonstrations erupted in many cities and provinces across mainland China yesterday. What is regrettable is that, in the demonstration in Shenzhen, many Japanese brand cars were overturned. This not only violated the law, but also damaged the property of our own innocent countrymen. And if the demonstrators come to be labelled as a mob, the significance of the civilian movement to defend the Diaoyus will be distorted. The unruly demonstrators have done harm to others as well as to themselves, and they have given their countrymen as much pain as they have given their enemy pleasure.

 

The movement in defence of the Diaoyus was touched off by Japanese politicians' proposal to "purchase" the islands. In both mainland China and Hong Kong, protest demonstrations have been staged. If held peacefully and directed against Japan's official agencies, including the Japanese Embassy and consulates, the demonstrations can show the Japanese government the Chinese people's indignation over Japan's occupation of the Diaoyus and their unity in the face of foreign invasion. The demonstrations will also create pressure on the Chinese government, forcing it to take a tougher stance in defending China's territorial integrity. But damaging Japanese brand cars is simply a wanton act of destruction that shows an inability to differentiate the right from the wrong, and enemies from non-enemies. Instead of doing any harm to the Japanese government, which is holding the Diaoyus under occupation, such behaviour causes damage to our own countrymen's property, and brings disgrace on the Diaoyu movement.

And while real Chinese patriots find the violence in the Shenzhen demonstration deplorable, the Japanese who are bent on occupying the islands must be laughing up their sleeves. Our Diaoyu movement is not unwarranted, but is fully justified. Regrettably, some demonstrators conducted themselves like mobsters. Their behaviour has tarnished the cause of the movement, and can only prove detrimental to our efforts to defend our country.

The recent landing on the Diaoyus was a carefully planned operation with the clear objective of asserting China's sovereignty over the islands. It was also clearly aimed against the invasion staged by the Japanese government and some Japanese civilians. The Diaoyu movement must be firmly grounded in reason, and conducted with a clear sense of justice and without excesses. It should not be directed against the ordinary Japanese citizen, and the Japanese communities in mainland China and Hong Kong must be left undisturbed. What happened in Shenzhen yesterday has left a blot on the movement. When the demonstrators went on a violent rampage, were they not doing injustice to the heroes who braved the choppy waves and risked their lives in order to land on the Diaoyus?
